Martha "Marty" Howe

Marthadene Howe (Marty), of Owensboro, passed away on September 25, 2026 at The Heartford House in Owensboro, Kentucky, with the presence of her loving family and friends around her. She was Born on April 23, 1951, in Whitesville Kentucky to the late Joseph Herman and Bertha Mae McPherson Howe. Marthadene grew up as number 13 of 13 children, where she was adored and spoiled by all of them. She was a 1969 Graduate of Mount St. Joseph Acadamy Maple Mount Kentucky. She was a graduate of Brescia College Owensboro Kentucky with a degree in Sociology and History. Marthadene had several awards presented to her at college and through her teaching years. She taught for 32 years. Marty has taught in the Diocese of Owensboro Catholic School System at Blessed Mother and also St. Pius X School in Owensboro and moved to Florida and taught in the Catholic School system there. She also worked for the Girl Scouts.

Marty had many talents and hobbies. She recently had been inducted into the local Daughters of The American Revolution, choosing her fifth great grandmother Eleanor Pigeon Miles as her Patriot. She was an accomplished guitar player and singer. She has played in bands and was known to utilize the talent as a teacher many times in the classroom where she used it as a tool to teach and entertain with sing-a-longs to get the students involved. She played at many school Masses during the school year and at family gatherings with other members of her family who were also musicians. Marty enjoyed reading, ball games (especially UK) and Casinos. The old adage “The House Always wins” was not always true where Marty was concerned. Marty had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious and unique laugh that made you laugh with her. She was a joy to be around. She enjoyed her life, her family and her friends and neighbors.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her spouse Jean Cambron, siblings, Kenneth (Betty), Herman (Mary Florence) and John (Stella) Howe of Whitesville, Kathleen (James Arnold) Conder, James (Marilyn) Howe of Kansas City, Kansas, Sister Shirley Ann Howe SCN, Woodie (Judy) Howe of Oak Ridge Tennessee, Louetta Mae Howe (toddler) and a sister (born sleeping).

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her siblings, Frank (Carolyn) Howe of Louisville, KY, sisters Rose Mary (Russell) Payne, and Mildred (Tom) Carrico and numerous nieces and nephews, and Long Time Friends to name just a few, Tish Warren, Pat Black and Donna Goetz.

The family of Marthadene Howe wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the Heartford House of Owensboro, for their excellent care and comfort in the days she was there.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
