Martha Carolyn Shelton Harpe

Martha Shelton Harpe, 68, of Philpot passed away Friday, May 4, 2007 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born August 12, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Myrtle Waltrip Shelton. Her life was glorified through her membership of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church; her fellowship with the members of the Quilters Guild; and her love for gardening, rocking and caring for babies, and her joy of caring for other people and animals. She was preceded in death by sisters, Ruby Baird and Jean Baker.

Mrs. Harpe is survived by her husband of 52 years, Wendell Earl Harpe; sons, Buck (and Sara) Harpe and Cliff (and Rita) Harpe of Owensboro, and Josh Harpe of Indianapolis, IN; daughters, Robin (and Dale) Roberts and Sally (and Tracy) Phillips of Philpot, and Sandy (and Ricky) Russelburg of Whitesville; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sisters, Ann Leishman of Owensboro, Chris Clark of Carmel, IN, Betty Collins of Wise, VA, and Ida Wood of Hardin, TX; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 2 P.M. Monday, May 7, 2007 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Phil Bradley officiating followed by burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from on 1-6 P.M. on Sunday and at Pleasant Grove UMC after 11 A.M. on Monday.
