Martha Jean Hamilton Estes

Martha Jean Hamilton Estes, 80, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Born in Philpot, KY., Martha was a daughter of the late Lewis and Lois Scherm Hamilton. She was of the Catholic Faith and attended Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. Martha spent almost 40 years as a self-employed antique dealer in various locations. Her passion for this began by going to garage sales and finding items that she could clean up and re-sale on her own or in her own garage sales.

Martha also loved gardening in her yard and her roses were her favorites. She also loved to read, sew, shop, and was a wonderful cook. She had made many friends over the years that she treasured deeply and enjoyed hanging out with them and socializing on a regular basis.

Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry G. Estes; and previous spouse Bob Gray; and a sister Rita Boarman.

She is survived by her daughters, Gabriella Taylor, Shannon Lancaster Hayes, Jonnie Martin and her husband David, Cheri Moss and her husband Bill, Angel Rock, and Jennifer Gray; son, Robert Gray; her beloved and faithful four-legged companion Maggie; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Martha is also survived by her sisters, Maxine Maxwell, Kristie Krampe, and Cindy Hamilton; and two brothers, Brad Hamilton and his wife Beth, and Rochie Hamilton and his wife Nola.


The funeral mass will be 10 AM, Thursday April 20, 2017 at Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. Julio Barrara officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory on Wednesday from 2 PM-8 PM.
