Martha Berry Clark

April 4, 1930 — February 7, 2009

Martha "Marnette" Berry Clark,78, of 1701 Maple Avenue, Owensboro, died about dawn on Saturday, February 7, 2009 while busy with her early morning tasks. She passed in the home that she loved and that she and her husband built in 1951. Martha was born April 4, 1930 in Owensboro to the late John C. Grant Berry and Della Baker Berry. She married Paul Eugene Clark on September 21, 1948 at St. Stephen Cathedral with Fr. Pike Powell officiating.

Martha retired from Bakarat and Chamberlin in Oakland, California as an executive secretary in 1996. From 1964 through 1986 Martha and Paul resided in Kwajalein, Marshall Islands where they were both employed by Global Associates. Martha as a secretary, and Paul as division manager. They later transferred to Global's Corporate office in Oakland, California prior to their initial retirement in 1988. They returned to their original house in Owensboro in 1996, after their second retirement.

Martha attended Immaculate Catholic Church and was a charter member. She usually attended Mass several times weekly until recently, as her health failed.

She enjoyed working in her yard, especially tending her roses and flowers, and she really liked cutting the yard on her lawn tractor while Paul did the trim work. The apple of her eye was her dog, Puff.

Martha is survived by her husband Paul Eugene Clark, sons; Paul Michael Clark of Owensboro, and Mark Eugene Clark of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and granddaughters; Jessica Michelle Clark and Melinda Ann Clark both of Illinois. She was preceded in death by a sister; Ruth, at the age of 12.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m Wednesday at Immaculate Catholic Church with Fr. Tony Jones officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 7 p.m. with prayers at 6:00 p.m. and also after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Interment will be later in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, St. Joseph, KY.
