Marshall Milne, 84, of Owensboro died Monday, April 2, 2007. Born in Owensboro, a son of the late Colin Ross and Nina Whitehead Milne, Mr. Milne was a florist and co-owner of the former Milne Greenhouse. Mr. Milne was widely traveled, annually visiting Europe for many years, during which visits he pursued his passion for classical music and opera, meeting many renowned composers, conductors, and musicians while visiting most of the great concert halls of England and the Continent. He was a dedicated supporter of the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, having for many years written the program notes for the orchestras performances and was recognized as a board member emeritus. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Bruce Milne in 2005 and Robert Ross Milne in 1991.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Mae Anna Milne, of Owensboro and his nephew, Dr. Stephen Milne and his wife Dr. Ginger Milne, of Brentwood, TN.
Services are at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 11:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Music Department or Chemistry Department of Kentucky Wesleyan College or to the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra.
