Mark Vollman

December 28, 1960 — September 22, 2025

Owensboro

Mark Anthony Vollman, 64, of Owensboro, Kentucky, ran into the arms of Jesus on September 22, 2025. Born on December 28, 1960, Mark was a radiant soul whose infectious smile, boundless enthusiasm, and unwavering kindness touched the lives of everyone he met.

Mark, who was born with Down Syndrome, lived a life defined not by limitations but by his remarkable achievements and the joy he brought to others. A proud participant in the Special Olympics, Mark competed with heart and determination, earning numerous medals in softball, bowling and track and field events. His competitive spirit and camaraderie on the field inspired teammates and spectators alike.

A dedicated member of the Boy Scouts of America, Mark achieved the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, a testament to his perseverance, leadership, and commitment to serving his community. His involvement with the Catholic Pastoral Center and his service as an altar boy at Immaculate Catholic Church reflected his deep faith and devotion. Mark’s presence at church was a gift, as he greeted everyone with warmth and a contagious zest for life.

Known as a true “ladies’ man,” Mark had a charm that won hearts effortlessly. His love for music, especially Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Patsy Cline, filled his days with joy, and he was often found singing along to his favorite songs or dancing with family and friends. An avid wrestling fan, Mark never missed a match, cheering loudly for his favorite wrestlers and bringing his signature enthusiasm to every moment.

Mark’s vibrant life was supported by the incredible care and community of his caregivers Kristie, Morgan and Michael as well as the staff at Wendell Foster, where he lived for his final years. His family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff and residents at Wendell Foster for their unwavering love, support, and dedication to Mark’s well-being.

Mark leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and inspiration. He is survived by his brother and favorite sister-in-law, Mike and Vickie Vollman; his niece Kristan (Richard) Higgs and great nephew Oliver Higgs. He leaves behind countless friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (Bob) and Mary Vollman.
