Mark C. Hedges, 55, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Owensboro, graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 1981, and was a Deacon at First Christian Church. Mark worked as a warehouse manager for Mullen & Haynes/DHI for 27 years before joining the staff of Kentucky Wesleyan College where he was the Director of Institutional Research and the NCAA Compliance Officer. He was a photographer, a philosopher, an accomplished trumpet player, and St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He also found great joy in spending time with his family.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Paul Allen Hedges, and his brother, Jeffrey Allen Hedges.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sherree Bell Hedges; children, Amber Bristow and her husband Steve of Owensboro, Adam Hedges and his wife Anjali of Nashville, and Laura Hedges Iverson and her husband Jordan of Bowling Green; grandchildren, Taylor Mark, Mariah, Zeke, Ryleigh Kate, Ellie-Grace, Valor and Ransom Bristow; mother, Marbrey Hedges; brother, Brian Hedges and his wife Cathy of Owensboro; sister, Paula Garrott and her husband Col. Jeff Garrott of Rineyville; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Hedges of Owensboro.

Services will be held at Noon on Saturday at Third Baptist Church and will be officiated by Brian Hedges, Eugene Howard and Jake Caldwell. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Mark C. Hedges Memorial Fund, c/o Kentucky Wesleyan College or the First Christian Church Memorial Fund.
