Marjorie Hayden Howard, 91, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, while surrounded by her family at the Carmel Home. Marjorie was born in Owensboro on January 16, 1933, to the late Herman and Lottie Page Schrecker.
Marjorie was a devoted Catholic and deeply committed to her faith and her church community.
Family was central to Marjorie's life. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly, treasuring the moments she spent with them. An exceptional cook, she was renowned for her Sunday breakfasts that sometimes welcomed up to 75 people. Marjorie also found great joy in attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Marjorie cherished her time with her family at Rough River, finding joy and tranquility there.
A master seamstress, she generously shared her talents by sewing for her family and church. Marjorie will be remembered for her warmth, dedication to loved ones, and unwavering faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 52 years, Russell Hayden Sr.; grandson, David Jarboe Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Faith Elizabeth Hayden and Kenton Bradley Hayden.
Those left to cherish her memory include her second husband, Dr. Carroll Howard; five daughters and their husbands, Vickie & Chris Warren, Donna & Gary Thompson, Karen & David Jarboe, Jill & Kenny Young, and Cheri & Phil Hayden; three sons and their wives, Russell & Vicki Hayden, Jr., Steve & Kristie Hayden, and John & Mary Margaret Hayden; grandchildren, Scott, Nick, Ryan, and James Warren, Erin Gilbert, Matt and Gary Thompson, Jenny Waller, Beth Coyne, Lisa Higdon, Sarah Thomas, Adam, Haley, Ben and Brian Young, Bradley Hayden, Brittany Thompson, Katelyn Dickens, Katie Blandford, Emily Gish, Russell and Joseph Hayden, Clark, Andrew, and Luke Hayden, Christopher, John Thomas and Elizabeth Hayden, Stephanie Woods and Caroline Clark; 59 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Hester and Lucille Contarino, step-children, Kevin, Amy, Rob, Lisa, and Heather, and a large and loving extended family.
The funeral Mass for Marjorie will be held at 12:00 pm Monday, November 4, 2024, at Saint Stephen Cathedral. Entombment will follow in Saint Ann Chapel at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm, with prayers at 4:00 pm on Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation on Monday will be from 11:00 am until 11:45 am at Saint Stephen Cathedral.
