Marjorie Greenwell, 99, resident of Austin, Texas since 2012 and a former long- time resident of Owensboro passed away April 26, 2017. She was born May 27, 1917 in Daviess County to Emmett Joseph and Mary Emma (Hildebrand) Greenwell.
Marjorie attended St. Francis Academy and was a devoted member of St Stephen Cathedral. She attended Owensboro Business College and served as a secretary for Sohio Oil and later at Johnson, Depp, and Quisenberry. Marjorie loved bowling, travel, horse races, stamp collecting, gardening, photography, opera, good company and barbeque.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Ann Hermann and a brother, William Greenwell.
She is survived by her eldest godchild, Mary Agnes Beasley and her husband, Michael Beasley, along with her youngest godchildren Julie and Ryan Beasley. She is also survived by William's children, Stephen Greenwell of Warminster, PA, William "Smoky" Greenwell of New Orleans, LA, Michael Greenwell of Preston, MO, Beth Lambert of Maine, Chris Greenwell of Sarasota, FL, Anne Collett and Laurie Greenwell of Austin, TX; 10 grandnieces and grandnephews; and 10 great grandnieces and grandnephews.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, May 3 at St. Stephen Cathedral. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at church. Fr. Jerry Riney will officiate. Burial will be at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.
