Marion Irvin Sparks

Marion Irvin Sparks, 87, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at his home. He was born November 27, 1930, in Daviess Co. to the late Edward and Mildred Brown Sparks. Marion was a lifelong dairy and tobacco farmer and had worked for the Kentucky Artificial Breeders Association for many years. He was an active member and former treasurer of Immanuel Baptist Church where he had served the church as a messenger for the Daviess-McLean Baptist Association. He was also a member of the Dairymen, Inc. Marion enjoyed raising and showing registered Holstein dairy cattle, golfing and eating out with his friends, and hunting and fishing. He especially loved spending time with his family.

Marion was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jane Hayden Sparks on January 8, 1995, a son, Marion Wayne Sparks on October 30, 2000, and a brother, Joe Brown.

Surviving are his children, Cheryl Peay and husband Steve of Reed, Darlene Petri and husband Michael of Lewisport, Tammy Hagan and husband Darrell of Whitesville, and Barry Sparks and wife Vanessa of Owensboro; 12 grandchildren, Stephanie Peay (Jason) Pfeil, Tim (Misty) Peay, Jennifer Peay (Ryan) Coffman, Katie Petri, Michelle Petri (Colby) Grayson, Jason (Lauren) Hagan, Dustin (Brooklyn) Hagan, Ashley Sparks, Megan Sparks, Brittany Sparks (Richard) Sutherland, Courtney Sparks (Derek) Maglinger, and Jake Sparks; 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Jackie Sparks and wife Delilia of Owensboro; sister-in-law, Patty Osborne of Owensboro; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 14, at Immanuel Baptist Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and from 9:00-11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Immanuel Baptist Church.
