Marion “Jackie” Jacquelyn Sapp Rickard, 87, of Owensboro, passed away on January 2, 2026. She was born in Owensboro on August 19, 1938, to the late Augustus O. Sapp and Sudie Crask Sapp.
Jackie was a member of the former Masonville Baptist Church prior to her moving to Florida. She was a great mom, loving grandmother, and touched the lives of her countless friends that she had over the years. Jackie lived in Owensboro most of her life. During the early part of her married life she lived in Breman while her husband was a Breman Eagles basketball coach. While her children were small her main job was being a homemaker, and in her later years she was a nanny, babysitter, and did private duty sitting. Her first nanny job was for Allie Dees, who she considered like a granddaughter. Most people remember her for her homemade cream pies. Even during her last days, she was telling her caregivers how to make some of her favorite desserts.
Jackie loved to travel and could remember in great detail the places and countries she had visited in her lifetime. During college basketball season, she rarely missed a UK game…… she definitely bled blue.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Mildred Sapp Reynolds, Shirley Sapp Cook, and Jerry Sapp; a son, Mark “Rock” Kent Rickard; grandson, Blake Anthony Moore; and the father of her children, Bobby Joe Rickard.
Jackie is survived by her daughter, Dana Joy Rickard of Sarasota; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Pagan Rickard of Owensboro; grandson, Eric Thomas Moore (Crystin) of Bowling Green; granddaughter, Lauren Rickard McGregor (Davis) of Cadiz; step granddaughter, Brande Chase Hudson and her daughter, Molly of Owensboro; siblings, Brenda Jill Sapp Kelly (Jim), Sandra Ruth Sapp Richardson, and Donna Kay Sapp Ballard; and countless nephews, nieces, and friends.
The funeral service for Jackie will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2026, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Bro. Kimbrough Simmons officiating. Burial to follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Friday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
