Marion Joseph Roberts

Marion Joseph Roberts, 56, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, October 7, 2010 at his sister's home in Hartford. Born in Daviess County on May 19, 1954, he was the son of the late Joseph L. Roberts and Mary Dorothy Millay Roberts; was an equipment operator at McElroy's Metals; and was a catholic attending St. Pius X Catholic Church. Marion loved music, especially playing the guitar and singing, and had his own band when he was younger. A clown at heart, he had a great sense of humor and loved playing tricks on his family. He was a devoted father to his three children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughters, Carrie and Charie Roberts, and Kara Lynn Roberts, and a brother, James Norman Roberts.

Surviving are his children, Carac Roberts (Daviess County High School), Michael Roberts (Daviess County Middle School), and Maria Sue Roberts (East View Elementary School) sisters, Marty (Mark) Mitchell of Hartford, Patsy (Kenny) Robbins and Nancy (Oran) Bowlds of Hawesville, Mary (Luther) Turner of Arlington, TX, Maria (Kenny) Bickett of Whitesville, June Howard of Owensboro, and Mony (Freddie) Morris of Philpot; brothers, Gary (Bonnie) Roberts of Nashville, TN, Dane (Mary) Roberts of Philpot, and David (Dell) Roberts of Hawesville; and many nieces and nephews.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2010 at St. William Catholic Church in Knottsville with Father Eric Riley officiating followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 9 a.m. on Monday. Prayers will be said at 5 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Ohio County.
