Marietta Nalley Swentner

Marietta Nalley Swentner, 87, of Owensboro, died Thursday, December 16, 2010, at the Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born May 13, 1923 to the late Allison Humphrey and Clara Lee Atherton Nalley in McLean County. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed the roses in her garden, and being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis Swentner on July 15, 2010; her step-mother, May Belle Likens Nalley; her brothers and sisters, Thomas Eugene Nalley, Harold Lee Nalley, Marion Fay Nalley and Kenneth Nalley, a half-brother, Darrell Nalley, and step-brothers, Charles Aaron Atherton, Thomas Atherton, and her step-sister, Dorothy Atherton Spencer.

Survivors include her son, Gary (Debbie) Swentner of Owensboro, three daughters, Norma (Gilbert) Phillips of Brentwood, TN, Carrol Hayden of Utica, and Sharon (Donald) Jones of Owensboro; six grandchildren, Krista Fogle, Monisa Angell, Andrea Roberts, John Hayden, Julie Breeden, and Ryan Hidenrite; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Lively of Lakeland, FL, and Janetta Brannon of Burleson, TX, a half-brother, Bill Nalley of Owensboro, and a step-brother, Joseph Benfold Atherton of Ft. Myers, FL.

Services will be 12:00 PM Saturday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, and after 10:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
