Marie Simmons Ambrose Nunnally

Marie Nunnally, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at her home. Born in Daviess County to the late Roy and Catherine Bowling Simmons, she was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. Mrs. Nunnally worked for General Motors Acceptance Corporation for several years, and retired in 1978 as office manager for Life Insurance Company of Georgia. Marie enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards, and watching UK basketball games.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Stirman Ambrose and William Branch Nunnally; a son, Michael Preston Ambrose; a brother, Houston Simmons; and sisters, Virginia Batman, Aileen Abel, Lucille Clark, Kathleen Tarter, and Rosita Blandford.

Surviving are sons, Patrick Ambrose of Owensboro and Byron Ambrose (Cheryl) of Nicholasville, KY; a daughter, Laurie Ambrose Lawless of Lexington; grandchildren, Bethany Ambrose of Brattleboro, VT, Kelli (Paul) Davis of Owensboro, Eric Lawless of Lexington, and Ben Ambrose of Nicholasville; a great-grandchild, Clara Davis; and a brother, W.C. Simmons.

Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Immaculate Catholic Church with Father Tony Jones officiating followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where prayers will be said at 6 p.m. on Friday evening.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Immaculate Church Renovation Fund or to St. Joseph Peace Mission.
