Marie "Mama Ree" Coons Bell

Marie "Mama Ree" Coons Bell, 93, of Maceo, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at her home. She was born January 28, 1925 in Daviess Co. to the late John W. and Anna Lewis Stinnett Coons. Marie had been a longtime member of Yelvington Baptist Church for most of her life and was currently a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church. She retired from Westinghouse Electric Corporation in 1983 after 36 years of service. She loved cooking, gardening, square dancing, and spending time with her family. For many years, Marie played the harmonica, since she was in elementary school. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Goel Chapter #104.

Marie was also preceded in death by her husband, J. W. Bell on January 8, 2000, a daughter, Brenda Tomes and her husband Norman, a son-in-law, Mark Hedges in 2014, two grandsons, Bradley Jay Tomes and Allen Bell Spurrier, and two brothers, Billy Coons and Donald Coons.

Surviving are two daughters, Sherree Bell Hedges of Owensboro and Robin Bell Spurrier and husband David of Maceo, eight grandchildren, Kevin Tomes, Darla Eisemann, Crystal Heady, Amber Bristow, Adam Hedges, Laura Iverson, Anna Claire Ford, and Madison Spurrier, 19 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, a brother, Truett Coons of Maceo, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service for Marie Bell will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 21, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 8:30 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
