Marguerite M. Welsh

Marguerite Welsh, 87, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2006, after a lengthy illness. She was to celebrate her 88th birthday this coming Sunday, Mothers Day, May 14. She was born to the late John and Anna Johnston in Youngstown, OH. She was head teller and assistance cashier at Citizens State Bank where she worked for 40 years. She has been a member of St. Stephen Cathedral for over 60 years, a member of the Owensboro Area Quilters, the Owensboro Auxiliary of Owensboro Fire Department, the Elizabeth Mundy Center, St. Vincent DePaul and past president of the Altrusa Business Womens Club.

She was preceded in death by a brother, John Johnston, Jr., and a sister, Ermine Burden.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Edward E. Welsh; a daughter, Becky Jesop and her husband, Gary of Evansville, IN, her sons, Dennis and his wife, Peggy, Dan and his wife, Alice, and Gayle Welsh, all of Owensboro; four grandchildren, Chris and Mark Jesop, Blake and Travis Welsh; three great-grandchildren, Maddie, Grace, and Anna Jesop.

Services will be 12:00 PM Saturday, at St. Stephen Cathedral with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 until 8:00 PM Friday, with prayers beginning at 6:00 PM at Glenn Funeral Home. Visitation will be after 10:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
