Margie Poole Mercer

Margie Poole Mercer, 75, of Philpot passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009 at her home. Born May 24, 1934 in Ohio County, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Eula Black Poole; was a 56 year member of Southside Wesleyan Church; and a homemaker. Mrs. Mercer was an avid quilter and enjoyed crocheting, but most of all, was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, D.L. Mercer; children, Becky (Herbert) Gibbs of Philpot, Carol (Rev. Tim) Wright of Louisville, Rev. David (Renee') Mercer of Port Huron, MI, Tim (Kim) Mercer of Utica, and Jeff (Karen) Mercer of Louisville; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Steve (Wanda) Poole and Ike (Jeannie) Poole of Benton; and a sister, Ada Mae Hardesty of Rosine.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Southside Wesleyan Church, 2804 Veach Rd., Owensboro, KY 42303. Visitation will be at the church from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday and after 12 noon on Wednesday.
