Margaret Weikel Barbour Roberts

Margaret Weikel Barbour Roberts, 102, of 2501 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, formerly of 1637 Griffith Ave., passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Carmel Home. She was born in Sorgho on Nov. 4, 1907 to the late Robert S. and Florence Elizabeth Payne Weikel, Sr. She had been a homemaker most of her life, and had worked at the S. W. Anderson Co. for about 25 years mainly in the purse department. She was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral, the Altar Society, and the Sacred Heart of Mary. She enjoyed traveling world-wide and especially loved raising her different varieties of roses around her yard. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Newbern W. Barbour, Jr., her second husband, Frank Roberts in 1987, a stepson, William A. "Bill" Roberts in 2009, a stepdaughter, Louise Roberts Kahn in 2009, her five brothers and sisters, Robert S. Weikel, Jr., James William "Bill" Weikel, Edward Michael Weikel, Paul Joseph Weikel, and Lorena "Dolly" Moore, and a step grandson, Tony Roberts in 2009.

Surviving are nieces and nephews, Paula W. Hayden of Utica, James William Weikel, Jr. and Robert Weikel III, both of Owensboro, Stephen Weikel of Illinois, Catherine W. Yokey of Dayton, OH, William T. Moore, Florence Tonelli, and Robert Moore, all of Denver, CO, Nancy Pisoni of Mt. Pleasant, MI, step grandchildren, Hadley Harrington, Bob Roberts, and John Roberts, all of Owensboro, Nora Beth Qabzard of Lexington, Janet Eaton of Wilmore, Ky., Reid Brodie of Washington, N. C., and Mary Louise Kent of Villa Hills, Ky, and numerous great and great great nieces, nephews, and step grandchildren.

Services will be 12:05 P.M. Thursday, April 22, at St. Stephen Cathedral. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Prayers will be 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
