Margaret Mary Oberst, 89, of 1159 Carter Rd., Owensboro, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2007 at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Oliver and Loretta Cecil. Margaret loved life and celebrated it to the fullest. The short time she resided at Bon Harbor, the many friends she made there were like her 2nd family. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten. Margaret also enjoyed playing cards and usually always won, but what she loved most was the special time she had praying with prayer partners. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marcellus Oberst, Sr.in 1976, a son, Marcellus Marty Oberst, Jr., an infant daughter, Sheila Oberst, four sisters, Alicia Wright, Toby Mathews, Polly Liebfried, and Teresa Ling, and two brothers, Clem Cecil and Dick Cecil.
Surviving are three sons, David Wayne Oberst of Anchorage Alaska, Donnie Oberst and wife Mary of Owensboro, Greg Oberst and wife Rosie of Topeka, Kan., two daughters, Kay Ellis and husband Buddy of Louisville, and Janet Husk of New Albany, In., a sister, Jean Keller and a brother, Louis Cecil, both of Owensboro, 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 21, at Precious Blood Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
