Margaret Pearl McLevaine Eans

Margaret Pearl McLevaine Eans, 94, of Owensboro, passed away Monday September 14, 2026, under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. She was born August 2, 1932 in Hebbardsville, KY, to the late Charles Walker and Blanche Allgood McLevaine.

Margaret was raised by her 6 older brothers and sisters after their parents passed away while the children were young. They all lived in the same house together in Owensboro, with the boys working to support the family.

She graduated from Owensboro High School and married William “Bill” Leslie Eans on March 10, 1951. They were two of the original lifeguards at the then newly built Owensboro Sportscenter pool. They were lifelong members of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church. Margaret lived for her children and grandchildren, attending as many of their sporting and school activities as she could. She loved singing, as she was in the high school choir. Margaret loved to cook for her grandchildren. She and Bill enjoyed extended stays at the family’s cabin on Rough River.

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bill; six brothers and sisters, Louis McLevaine, Charles Walker “Shorty” McLevaine, Jr., Floyd “Tich” McLevaine, Elizabeth Wahl, Gladys Embry, and Marie Moreland; and a son, Stephen Leslie Eans.

Margaret is survived by a daughter, Bridget Eans of Owensboro; a son, Shane Eans (Hope) of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Leslie Lynn Eans (Richard), Stevi Jean Nichols (Josh), William Logan Eans, Keely Mae Eans, and Philip Morgan Eans; great-granddaughter, Jade Leveronne; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
