Margaret E. Mattingly

Margaret E. "Dolly" Mattingly, 85, went to be with the Lord peacefully in her sleep on November 2nd, 2013. She was born in Daviess Co., on September 20, 1928 to the late Albert and Frances Head Horrell. Margaret was a long standing member of Maceo Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the churches' choir and quartet group. She was Postmaster of the Maceo Post Office for 22 years and retired in 1989. In 1986, the honor of Postmaster of the year was bestowed upon her. She was a member of The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. Margaret enjoyed cooking and entertaining and sharing with others in times of sorrow and need, she was an avid collector of Department 56 Snow Village and especially enjoyed sharing the Christmas Holiday Spirit with family and friends. Following her retirement she enjoyed 18 blissful years of travel and golf with her husband Gabe.

Margaret is also preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty years, Floyd Gabe Mattingly and two brothers; Todd and George William.

Survivors include three children, Margaret (Gary) Black of Raleigh, NC, Charles D. Mattingly of Micco, FL, and Janet Mattingly (Kerry Flinn) of Lexington. Three sisters, Shirley (Tom) Leonard of Philpot, Rachael Sandidge and Ann Gibson of Owensboro; Two brothers, Bennie (Judy) Horrell of Owensboro and Robert (Peggy) Horrell of Atlanta, GA, and a sister-in-law, Ann Allison Horrell of Lake Malone, KY. Two grandsons, Dwayne (Susan) Poole of Loveland, OH and Brandon (Teri Lynn) Mattingly of Owensboro, and granddaughter Katy (Nathan) Randolph, Lexington. Five great grandchildren Mattingly Elizabeth Poole, Twins Emily and Caroline Poole, Maeleigh Grace Randolph and Braxton Gabriel Mattingly. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday November 4th, 2013 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Reverend Scott Ford will be officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until time of service on Monday. Internment, along with the cremated remains of her husband, Floyd Gabe Mattingly, will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
