Margaret Evelyn Vertrees Jones

Margaret Evelyn Vertrees-Jones, 90, of Owensboro, passed away on October 17, 2011. She was born in Daviess County to the late Ira T. and Mildred Vertrees.

Evelyn was baptized in 1958 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in the Owensboro East Congregation. She had worked at V.E. Anderson (Sun) Windows and also as a cook at J.J. Newberry.

In addition to raising eleven children Evelyn made time to enjoy crafts, quilt making, baking and even did some upholstering.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Carl Jones, Sr. who retired from the Murphy Miller Corporation. Evelyn was also preceded in death by a son, Carl Jones, Jr. in 2010.

She is survived by three daughters, Mildred "Pinki" Hart (Gary) of Owensboro, Sharon Burks of Owensboro and Lizabeth Creech (Chris) of Nashville, TN; seven sons, Milton Jones (Ilse) of Rockford, IL, Frank Jones (Sue), Eugene Jones (Margo), both of Owensboro, Barry Jones (Judy) of Bowling Green, KY, Larry Jones of York, PA, Randy Jones (Kim) and Tony Jones, both of Owensboro; twenty four grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2208 Tamarack Road in Owensboro.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
