Margaret Garvin Husk

September 19, 1948 — September 25, 2008

Margaret Garvin Husk, 60, of 2696 State Route 1389, Hawesville, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008 at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, aunt, sister, cousin, friend, and most importantly, grandmother. She made the most of everyday with a quick wit, sense of humor, strength and passion that inspired everyone who knew her. She lived this way until the day she lost her very courageous battle against cancer, one that she had fought for more than 25 years.

Margaret enjoyed her work at the Hancock Clarion for 13 years and for 19 years in the Engineering Department at Willamette/Weyerhauser/Domtar in Hawesville. She approached each job with the same tenacity that she did the rest of her life and made friends every step of the way. She was born on September 19, 1948 in Daviess Co., Ky. and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hawesville.

While Margaret enjoyed her career, she mostly cherished her time away from the office where she could enjoy her true passions in life at home. Her husband of 39 years, Charles Husk, could always find her at home working outdoors in her flower beds admiring the results of her green thumb and she loved to spend time in her kitchen cooking for family and friends, sharing her favorite recipes with them. Margaret especially enjoyed the holidays and the opportunity that provided to make her favorite meals and enjoy time with her loved ones.

Her greatest joy in life came from watching her two beautiful daughters grow up and become mothers themselves. She could always be found cheering them on in sports as they went through school and remained their biggest champion to this day. Christa Husk Lucas and her husband Kevin and Charlene Husk Moody were Margaret's pride and joy. She took on her favorite role in life as "Mimi" when she became a grandmother to Kennedy and Camden Lucas and Ashton Moody. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren over the past six years and loved spoiling them with hugs and kisses.

Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn McKay Garvin and her father, Edward S. Garvin, and a sister-in-law, Judy Garvin. In addition to her husband, daughters, son-in-law, and grandchildren, she is survived by a stepmother, Mary Patricia Powers Garvin of Owensboro, brothers, Dennis Garvin and wife Shirley of Springhill, Fla., Ray Garvin of Owensboro, and John Garvin and wife Carla of Owensboro, a sister, Elaine Morgan of Raleigh, N. C., and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, Sept. 29, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hawesville. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday at the Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro and after 8:30 A.M. Monday at Immaculate Church. Prayers will be 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
