Margaret Sue Greenwell Hardesty, 76, of the Carmel Home, formerly of 104 E. 22nd St., Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Carmel Home. She was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Robert and Anna Weikel Greenwell. She was a homemaker and a very wonderful mother. She was an active member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church for 60 years and a strong supporter of Catholic education, a Ky. Colonel, and had been a member of the League of the Sacred Heart. What was most special to her was her strong belief and support of The Right To Life of Owensboro. She loved all children and in 2001, she was named the Right To Life Mother of the Year. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dennis Hardesty on Sept. 29, 1995, a son, Phillip D. Hardesty on March 10, 2003, and two grandchildren, Mark Phillip Hardesty in June, 2003, and Katie Hamilton in April, 1994.
Surviving are seven sons, Michael T. Hardesty, Paul G. Hardesty and wife Gina, John R, Hardesty, and Perry J. Hardesty and wife Jan, all of Owensboro, Patrick C. Hardesty and wife Jennifer of Philpot, Stephen Mark Hardesty and wife Sandy of Aurora, Col., and Anthony David Hardesty and wife Juliette of Rockport, Ind., four daughters, Tina Hardy and husband Scott, and Jeannie Best and husband Keith, all of Owensboro, Margie Matthis and husband Rick of Philpot, and Nancy Hamilton and husband Mike of Whitesville, a daughter-in-law, Pamela Hardesty of Owensboro, two brothers, Robert Greenwell of Albuquerque, N. M. and Ed Greenwell of Malabar, Fla., two sisters, Nancy Whitaker of Corydon, Ind. and Jo Ann Scheessele of Newburgh, Ind., 33 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 31, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday and after 9:00 A.M. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home. The rosary will be said at 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
