Margaret Ruth Clark Fischer
Margaret Ruth Clark Fischer, 82, was escorted to heaven by her little angels to meet her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 2, 2016. Her passing will leave a void that can never be filled, but her family finds comfort in knowing what a joyous reunion she had with her husband, best friend, and the love of her life. A match made in heaven now reunited in heaven. She was born in Hopkins County on February 1, 1934 to the late Howard and Bessie Pinkston Clark. She grew up in McLean County where she graduated from McLean County High School in 1952. Even though many years had passed, she still remained good friends with her classmates. She married William Joseph "Bill" Fischer on January 9, 1954 at St. Martin Catholic Church. They spent 49 ½ wonderful years together. Although most knew her as Margaret, those who loved her most, simply knew her as Mom and Mammaw. She devoted her entire life to being the most loving wife, dedicated mother, and keeping the boys in line during her many years at Fischer's Keystop. Although the woman whose job description included cook, nurse, cheerleader, and referee did not have a set salary, she was worth more than her weight in gold.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, great granddaughter, Emelia Claire Aud, brothers Hugh and Weldon Clark, sister and brothers-in-law Louise and D. H. Waltrip, and LeRoy Powers. Also preceding her in death was her father and mother-in-law, William and Lillian Batman Fischer.
She is survived by her children, four sons, David (Barbara) Fischer, Joey (Sondra) Fischer, Tommy Fischer, all of Owensboro, and Jimmy (Kelly) Fischer of Maceo, two daughters, Kathy (Bob) Clark and Karen Fischer-Kirk of Owensboro, 16 grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Bowlds, Nicole (Aaron) Apple, Dawn (Jassen) Dickey, Joy Kaye (Cory) Abel, Jimmy (Tracy) Fischer, Monica (Matt) Lampton, Jason (Ursula) Fischer, Erica (Cuba) Hagan, Brandon Fischer, Sara (Kyle) Aud, Joseph Fischer, Adam (Kaitlyn) Fischer, Heath (Shelby) Peach, Amanda Fischer, Lindsey (Brett) Hudson, and Elijah Nafrady, 25 great grandchildren, Madeline, Molly, and Julia Bowlds, Minor, Myles, and Fischer Abel, Ellington and Holden Aud, Lilly and Harrison Apple, Cayden Roper, Willow Jarvis, Ryleigh Owen, Brystal and Karmen Hudson, Taylor Hibbitts and Jaxsten Fischer, Dakota Dickey, McKynley Lampton, Keiara, Kamdyn, Alyse, and Kabella Hagan, and Romyn and Jack Peach, and awaiting the arrival of a new great granddaughter, a sister, Mary Powers, sister and brothers-in-law, Geraldine "Jerry" and Doug Crowe, and J. R. Fischer, and several nieces and nephews. She also has a very dear friend, Delores Turnage, who was like one of the family.
Margaret was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church where she was one of the founding members. Her faith was very important to her and all who knew her. A special thanks to the St. Pius X family for their prayers and support.
