Marcus C. Swift

Marcus C. "Mark" Swift, 49, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. He was born August 15, 1965 in Daviess Co. to the late Thomas C. "T.C." and Betty Wells Swift. Mark was currently employed with the Wendell Foster's Campus for Developmental Disabilities and was retired from the Owensboro Fire Department as a Captain and member of the Firefighters Association. He was a very active member of Immaculate Catholic Church. Mark loved helping people and especially loved cooking and volunteering for many organizations and schools including Owensboro Catholic High School, Wendell Foster Campus, Immaculate Church, and the Owensboro Fire Department. For many years, he helped coach his son's in their various sports. Mark was loved by many and his smile lit up the room.

Mark was also preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen T. Swift and Barry O. Swift, and his foster mother, Veronica Ralph.

Surviving are his wife of 25 years, whom he fell in love with at first sight, Robin Shacklett Swift, two sons, Zachary T. Swift and Marcus "Nolan" Swift, both of Owensboro, three brothers, Michael T.(Brenda) Swift of Owensboro, Max (Dawn) Swift of Owensboro, and Scott L. Swift of Florida, his mother-in-law, Mary Shacklett of Owensboro, two sisters-in-law, Sarah (Buddy) Merrill of Crestwood, and Susan (Ted) Belcher of Owensboro, a brother-in-law, Steve (Sandra) Shacklett of Owensboro, numerous nieces and nephews that he loved being with, and his dog, Ed.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, April 12 at Immaculate Catholic Church celebrated by his close friend Father Tony Jones. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday with prayers at 7:00 P.M. and from 11:00 A.M. until 12:15 P.M. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
