Marcellus Bonaventure Oberst

January 12, 1941 — March 17, 2004

Marcellus Bonaventure Oberst, Jr., 63, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at the Veterans Hospital in Louisville. He was the son of Marcellus Oberst, Sr. (deceased) and Margaret Oberst of Owensboro. He retired from Lanham Electric Co.. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He spent time with the Glenmarys in Kansas whose ministry was to the poor. He worked with the Charlie Osborne ministry that helped recovering drug addicts. He enjoyed his work at Jubilee in Georgia, their ministry was helping war refugees adjust to life in the United States. He also was a Eucharistic Minister for his little group at Davco Rest Home.
His survivors include 3 daughters, Barbara Seegers of Yorba Linda, Ca., Elizabeth Oberst of Anaheim, Ca., and Margaret Mindrum of Westminster, Ca. He has 6 grandchildren, William, James, Catherine, and Shane Seegers, and Tanner and Haley Mindrum, 3 brothers, Greg Oberst of Auburn, Ks., Donald Oberst of Owensboro, and Wayne Oberst of Anchorage, Alaska, 2 sisters, Janet Hust of Jeffersonville, In. and Kay Ellis of Louisville.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 20, 2004 at Precious Blood Catholic Church with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boulware Center Mission, 731 Hall St., Owensboro, Ky. 42303. Online condolences may be placed at www.glennfuneralhome.com.
