Marc Newman Kelley, 80, of Owensboro passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Louisville, KY.
He was born in Owensboro on February 28, 1932 to Louise Eaty Kelley and Ogle Kelley.
He graduated from Georgia Tech University in 1953 with a degree in chemical engineering and was president of Sigma Nu fraternity. From 1954 to 1957 he served in the United States Navy and was a naval officer on the USS Intrepid. After his military service, he returned to Owensboro and began working for Texas Gas Transmission Corporation. He retired from Texas Gas in 1992.
Marc was a member of First Baptist Church; the Owensboro Rotary Club; the Investors' Club; and the Owensboro Country Club, where he served as board president from 1997 to 1998. He loved to write; was an avid reader; and enjoyed classical music, tennis, and golf.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene; daughters, Kathy Scheen (Patrick) and Susan Shannon; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Patrick and Michael Scheen, and Liz and Abby Shannon; and stepdaughters, Pam Light, Cyndi Sturgeon, and Michele Etheredge.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory in Owensboro. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
