Malone June Gaynor, Jr. of 3431 Ashlawn Drive, Owensboro, died Sunday, September 2, 2001 at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
The Davis, West Virginia native was a graduate of Davis High School and Kentucky Wesleyan College. He retired from Modern Welding as a Department Manager following 37 years of service. A United States Army veteran of World War II, he served in campaigns in Italy. He was an avid fan of Kentucky Wesleyan basketball, a member of the KWC All-American Club, the colleges Presidents Club, Heritage Society and established the Malone and Lillian Gaynor Endowed Fund at the college. His first wife, Lillian Lyons Gaynor, preceded him in death, in 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Simpson Gaynor, a stepdaughter, Deborah Simpson Fillman of Owensboro, a stepson, Michael Simpson of Bowling Green, a step-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2001, at Glenn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 3, 2001 and again after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Kentucky Wesleyan College.
