Mallory Logsdon, 89, of Old Highway 54, Philpot died Thursday, May 17, 2007 in Florissant, MO at the home a daughter, Gayle Stone. Mr. Logsdon was a child of the late John Ad and Mary Magdalene Bowlds Logsdon. Born in Maceo, KY within a half mile of the new Natcher Bridge, he attended the Hawes School and at the outbreak of World War II enlisted in the United States Army. His service as a cannoneer in the Pacific Theatre included campaigns in the northern Solomon Islands and the Philippines liberation. Mr. Logsdon was of the Roman Catholic faith.
Following the war he returned to Owensboro and after a brief tenure at the former Owensboro Wagon Factory began his 30 year career with Sears, from which he retired as warehouse manager. His other interests were in livestock, having raised cattle and pigs, and in gardening. He was an avid Rook player.
His wife of 64 years, Dorothy Lee Havener Logsdon passed away in October of this past year. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, William Otis Logsdon, Kenneth Joseph Logsdon, John Thomas Logsdon, Henry Pius Logsdon, Lawrence Sherman Logsdon, and Martin Russell Logsdon, and his sister, Mary Eufalla Coleman
Survivors include his daughters, Yvonne Gayle Logsdon Stone and her husband Dan of Florissant, MO, and Rosemary Logsdon Smith and her husband Kelly of Sanford, MI; his sons, Ronald Lee Logsdon of Owensboro, Mallory Wayne Logsdon and his wife Emma of Reynolds Station, and Randy Allen Logsdon of Florissant, MO; 6 grandsons; 4 granddaughters, and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, and after 8:30 a.m. Monday Entombment will be in Christ Chapel Mausoleum at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
