Maggie O. Mayes

Maggie Mayes, 84, of Owensboro, died Sunday, January 4, 2009, at the Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born July 14, 1924, to the late Ollie and Stella Foreman Wedding in Daviess County. She attended Owensboro Christian Church, retired from General Electric and enjoyed piece quilting, sewing and cooking for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Walter R. Mayes, Sr. on September 10, 2001, and two sisters, Katherine Miller and Mary Caldwell.

Survivors include her son, Walter Mayes, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Owensboro; a granddaughter, Amy Adams and her husband, Felton of Bowling Green; two great-grandchildren, Hallie and Hunter Adams; a sister-in-law, Christine Stone of Whitesville; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, and after 8:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
