Mae Kathleen Lancaster

Mae Kathleen "Kathy" Cook Lancaster, 85, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011, at her home. She was born June 24, 1926, in Daviess County to the late Eugene and Amy Rice Cook. Kathy was of the Baptist faith, had worked at Ken-rad and GE, and retired from Daviess County Hospital as "special diets" cook. She held many cooking positions after that including Morrison's cafeteria, The Gourmet Diet Club, Daviess County Treatment Center, The Elizabeth Munday Center and Lewis Lane Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. Lancaster in 1973; her son, Robert Bruce Lancaster in 2008; her brothers, Hardin Tyler Cook, Robert Tillman Cook, and Lyman Samuel Cook; and her sisters, Lila Geraldine Basham and Mary Emogene Wright.

She is survived by her sons, John (Lana) Lancaster of Owensboro, Tony (Donna) Lancaster of Charleston, SC, Rick (Robin) Lancaster of Philpot and Steve (Judy) Lancaster of Lavergne, TN; her daughters, Connie (Dale) Hamilton of Knottsville, Becky (Larry) Franey, Margaret Lancaster and Terri Lancaster all of Owensboro; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Lancaster; sister, Anna "Tootsie" Tucker; sister-in-law, Shirley Cook; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and after 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
