Mae G. Hamilton, 79, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2008 at Harborside Healthcare. She was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Claude and Rena Gibbs. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and enjoyed saying the rosary with her husband Carl during Mother Angelica's television program. She had owned and operated several business's during her 50 years in retail sales including Mae's Bootery and the Hamwear Gallery. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Hinton, a son, Joseph Byron Hamilton, and a sister Louise Birkhead.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Carl Hamilton, three daughters, Carol Craig and husband Stephen of Hawesville, Brenda Whitehouse of Owensboro, and Lisa Chandler and husband Jeff of Owensboro, two sons, Keith Hamilton and wife Brandy of Lexington, and Carl Hamilton, Jr. of Louisville, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, a brother, Claude Gibbs of Greenville, and four sisters, Ann Schneider and Josephine Wells, both of Dallas, Tx., Catherine Whitsett of Owensboro, and Frances Gibbs.
Services will be 12:00 Noon Thursday, November 6 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 9:00 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
