Mabel Marie Hamilton Snead, 87, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012 at her home. Born in Ohio County on July 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late James William and Mattie Hayes Stevens Hamilton; was a member of the Church of Christ; and was a homemaker. Mrs. Snead enjoyed bingo and other games of chance, country music and dancing, and bowling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guthrie A. Snead, Sr. in 1990 and a son, Donald Eugene Snead in 2006; and brothers, Claude Hamilton, Leo Hamilton, and John Paul Hamilton; and a sister, Opal Carden.
Surviving are her children, Guthrie "Sonny" and Brenda Snead, Jr., and Robert L. Snead of Owensboro, Paula Payne of Utica, and Judith and Donald Anderson of Philpot; 16 grandchildren, 16 Great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, William Hamilton; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012 in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Rick Wedding officiating followed by burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Friday and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky.
