M. Imogene Thompson

M. Imogene "Jean" Thompson, 84, of Sorgho, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012 at her home. She was born on April 9, 1928 in Daviess Co. to the late Patrick M. and Xaveria Coomes Howard. Jean was the first full time X-ray technician in Owensboro having worked for many years at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church where she was the organist and choir director for 26 years and also served on the Altar Society. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, canning, and arranging flowers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J. B. "Hank" Thompson on October 17, 2008, a daughter, Cynthia Ann Thompson on February 24, 2008, and a sister, Dolores E. Lanham in 2004.

Surviving are a son, Glenn Edward Thompson of Owensboro, three daughters, Yvonne Marie Thompson of Lexington, Maureen Ann Walczak and husband Bill of Union, KY, and Carla Louise Garyotis and husband Corey of St. Augustine, FL, three grandchildren, Amanda Thompson of Dallas, TX, Kurt Thompson of Houston, TX, and Conner Garyotis of St. Augustine, and five brothers, W. D. "Doug" Howard of Louisville, Leonard L. Howard of Springfield, IL, Wallace Howard of Utica, Dr. Carroll Howard of Owensboro, and Dr. Millard Howard of Tallahassee, FL.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 29 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church with burial following in St. Raphael Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday with prayers at 6 and from 8:00-9:00 A.M. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
