Lydia Joan (Jolly) Bronson, 76, of 3248 Shadewood Terrace, Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Carmel Home. She was born on August 4, 1934 in McLean Co., Ky. to the late Waymon and Josephine Shelton Jolly. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Wilma (Timmy) Jolly.
This lovely red-head put the needs of others before her own. She spent her life as a tender and compassionate care provider for the elderly and terminally ill. She resided in Dyatona Beach, Florida for many years before returning to Kentucky to care for her mother until her own health began to fail. In her spare time, she was an enthusiastic yard sale patron.
Though she couldn't always be with them, she loved her family dearly at heart. She always found joy in the special play time she spent with her great granddaughter and namesake, Lydia Williams.
In her final years, she danced her unique brand of sunshine throughout the halls of the Carmel Home with her sweet and witty personality. She will forever be missed by the many lives she touched.
Surviving are her husband, Gerald Bronson, two sons, Jess and Mike Johnson of Leonard Oak, Ky. in Butler Co., a daughter, Lois Purdy and son-in-law, Dr. William Purdy of Utica, eight grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a sister and brother-in-law, Myrlene and Jasper (junior) Wilson of Rumsey, Ky.
Private services will be held.
Expressions of sympathy can be expressed through donations to the Carmel Home, 2501 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, Ky. 42303 or to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
