Lura Roberts Payne

Lura Roberts Payne, 78, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at her home surrounded by all her family. She was born on July 13, 1934 in Daviess Co., to the late Samuel Nathaniel and Mary Jane Hartley Roberts. She had worked at General Electric, was retired from the Wendell Foster Center, and was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. She enjoyed watching MSNBC, gardening, decorating for the holidays, and baking her "World Famous" chocolate pies. You always knew what she was thinking because she said it out loud. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Lee, Bob, Ed, and Sam Roberts.

Surviving are her children including four sons, Carl Stephen Payne and wife Marsha of Owensboro, Barry Allen Payne of Yelvington, Michael Geoffrey Payne and wife Connie of Owensboro, and David Nathaniel Payne of Owensboro, two daughters, Stacy Hamilton and husband Tommy and Vanessa Tong and husband Jimmy, all of Knottsville, fifteen grandchildren, Keith (Roxianne) Payne, Summer (John) Newton, Jenny (Josh) Reynolds, Eli (Ariel) Payne, Josh Payne, Geoff (Sara) Payne II, Jarred Payne, Chris Postlewaite, Jamie (Mary) Postlewaite, Michelle (Brian) Lynn, Tim (Lyndsey) Tong, John (Maddie) Tong, Joseph Tong, Cynthia (James) Pate, and Jessica (Shane) Ling, 16 great grandchildren, her sister Naomi Henry of Owensboro, and literally hundreds of nieces and nephews.

Services will be 12 Noon Thursday, December 13, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Williams Cemetery at a later time. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday with prayers at 6:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
