Lura J. Holden

Lura J. Holden, 101, of Owensboro, died at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, Kentukcy on Saturday, May 11, 2002. She was preceeded in death by her husband George W. Holden in 1956. Also, by three sons, George W. Holden, Jr. in 1978, Ernest L. Holden in 1991,Frye H. holden in 1993, and by one daughter Dorothy H. Wehrung in 1990.

Ms. Holden was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Extension Superintendent. She was the oldest member, by age, of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and had served as treasurer for 22 years. She was the historian of the chapter which was named for her.

She is survived by two daughters, Edith J Fuqua and Helen I Lohman both of Madisonville, Kentucky, 11 Grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildern and 31 great-great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.

Services are at Glenn Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at 1:00 p.m.. Visitaion at the funeral home on Monday, May 13, 2003 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
