Lula M. Powers, 69, of Owensboro, passed away on May 18, 2010 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born on May 19, 1940 in Hancock Co., Ky. to the late Theodore and Nina Conners Crutchfield. She had worked for Quality Oil Co. in their Quality Quik Stores and was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, making candy, horse racing, watching U.K. basketball, and going on vacations. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Payne in 1980, and two sons, Eddie Powers in 1962 and Terry Powers in 2001.
Surviving are her longtime companion of 28 years, John Frantz, three daughters, Annetta Francis and husband Nathan of Owensboro, Cynthia Moffett of Philpot, and Jeanetta Powers of Paducah, a son, Barry Lee Powers and wife Samantha of Owensboro, 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and three sisters, Gracie Frizzell of Beaver Dam, and Evelyn Ammons and Margaret Porter, both of Owensboro.
Services will be 12 Noon Friday, May 21, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 10:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.
