Lula Mae Payne

Lula Mae Payne, 81, of Owensboro, died Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the Carmel Home. Lula was born in Owensboro to the late Richard and Mary (Miller) Payne. She was a homemaker, and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She loved the out doors, flowers, fishing, watching birds. She also loved coaching girls softball.

Her husband , Bernard J. Payne preceded her in death in 2001 as well as a son, Allen in 2012.

Surviving are her children, Tom (Carol) Payne, Sheila (Larry) Abel, Cindy Drake, all of Owensboro, Linda Stevens of Georgetown, KY, Steve Payne of Owensboro, Paul Payne of Lexington, KY, and Patty Hancock of Beaver Dam, a sister, Lottie Ensor of Owensboro, 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Carmel Home Chapel, with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory from 4 to 8 p.m. with prayers at 6:30 p.m., and at the Carmel Home Wednesday after 8:30 a.m. until funeral time. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Carmel Home.
