Lucille Sosh Bailey

Lucille Sosh Bailey, 90, of Owensboro died Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Springfield, KY, a daughter of the late Homer Allen Sosh and Ola Holderman Sosh, Mrs. Bailey was a talented track and field runner and basketball player in her youth, worked at Owensboro National Bank as a teller, at General Electric, and retired as the receptionist for her late husband, Dr. T. R. Bailey. She served as president of the Green River Dental Auxiliary, as recording secretary of the Kentucky Dental Auxiliary, as a board member of the National Dental Auxiliary, and was an original co-owner of Hermitage Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Bailey was a member of First Christian Church and its Berean Sunday school Class, a former Sunday school teacher, a charter member of Century Christian Church, had been active in the Younger Womans Club, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Theodore R. Bailey, in 1996, her son, Dr. William A. Bailey in 2004, her sister, Martha Sosh Coombs, and her brothers, Woodson Wallace Sosh and Homer Allan Sosh, Jr.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Yvonne Bailey of Owensboro; her granddaughters, Cassandra Bailey Petty and her husband Jimmy of Bowling Green and Andrea Bailey of Louisville; her great-grandchildren Ashlynn Danielle Petty and Jackson Bailey Petty, both of Bowling Green; her sister, Ola Sosh Peacock, of Owensboro; her sister-in-law, Renetta Sands Sosh of Hilton Head; and her nieces and nephews, Betty Coomes Jagoe, William J. Coomes, Susan Sosh Richmond, Vicki Sosh Lau, James Richard Peacock, Edward Beverly Peacock, and Dennis Allan Peacock.

Services are at 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2005 at Glenn Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Phil Curran, and where visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 10:00 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the memorial fund of First Christian Church or the American Heart Association.
