Louise Layman Wells, 90, of Truman Young Road, Hawesville, died Thursday, March 22, 2007 at her home. She was a native of Stanley, born to the late Emmett M. and Lillie (Condor) Layman. She was presently the oldest member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, and a housewife. She was a member of the Womens Missionary Society, taught Sunday school for 15 years. She was always a hard working woman.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Clarence R. Wells, a brother J.W. Layman and a sister, Pauline Coy.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Clarence Wells of New Castle, Wyoming, and David Mitchell Wells of Reynolds Station, and a daughter Patsy Richards of Hawesville, two brothers, Delbert Layman of Owensboro, Billy Layman of Greenville, North Carolina, and two sisters ,Margaret Gayeski of Florida, and Mildred Hicks of Owensboro, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phil Bradley and Rev. David Britt officiating. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association Incorporated Memorial Fund.
