Louise Stringer, of Owensboro passed away Friday, October 6, 2017 at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Knottsville, KY, a daughter of the late William and Lillie Reynolds Mattingly. Following graduation from high school, Mrs. Stringer worked at General Electric during World War II. She was feisty, a wonderful cook, a strong disciplinarian and an avid fisherwoman. A grandson, Joseph Vollman, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband Jim Stringer; her children Kim Payne and her husband Ronnie, of Philpot, Karen Schauman and her husband George of Evansville, Vicki Lawalin and her husband Don, of Tell City, and Barry Vollman of Owensboro; her grandchildren Heath Payne, Chase Payne, Jenna Brock, Adara Schauman, Curtis Gray, Krystal Lawalin, and Carrie Dutschke; and her great-grandchildren Levi Payne, Hannah Gray, and Peyton Gray.
The funeral mass for Mrs. Stringer will be 9:00 a.m. Monday at the Parish of the Immaculate, officiated by the Rev. Tony Jones. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, with prayers at 6:30 Sunday, and from 8:00 until 8:30 a.m. Monday. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Immaculate Catholic Church.
