Louise Cooper Snyder

July 29, 1905 — July 8, 2001

Louise Cooper Snyder, 95, formerly of Henderson, died at The Hermitage July 8, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Harry Augustus and Birde Thornton Cooper. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Lett Shaw of Owensboro and Ann Chapman of Woodburn, Kentucky. Five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild also survive. Her husband J. Russel Snyder perceded her in death in 1989.

She served as state president of the Kentucky P- TA from 1966-1969, was past member of the National P-TA Board, served on the Kentucky Committee on Children and Youth, Governors Safety Committee, and the Citizens Health Committee. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church. During her residency in Henderson she organized Junior Toastmasters Club at Barret High School, Holy Name High School and the former Douglas High School. She organized a Little Theater program for grade school children and Girls Day in local government. She was co-sponsor for the Servicemens Center at Camp Breckinridge during the Korean Conflict and was chairman of the local Choral Patrons organization. She served as chairman of the Henderson Citizens Advisory Committee for the construction of the former City High School and served as chairman of the Citizens Advisory Committee on Education.

Graveside services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro on Wednesday July 11, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. There will be no visitation. The family request that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Settle Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 E. 4th Street Owensboro, KY 42303. The Kentucky Talking Book Library, P. O. Box 818, Frankfort, KY 40602; or to a charity of personal choice.
