Louise Mary Bertke

Louise Mary Bertke of Owensboro passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Daviess County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Boehmann Bertke; a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; and was retired from General Electric (37 years), and had also worked at Republic Aviation, Chrysler, and Schulndt's Baby Shop of Evansville. Her greatest love in life was her church where she was active in the Legion of Mary (27 years) and the choir. She received numerous awards for her achievement in ballroom dancing and loved country music. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Bertke, Jr. and Herbert Bertke and four sisters, Augusta Wink, Mary Willett, Anne McKay and Kathryn Head.

She is survived by 19 nieces and nephews and 38 great-nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian burial will be 10 A.M. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church followed by burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 P.M. on Tuesday and after 8:30 A.M. on Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 6 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of mass offerings for the repose of her soul.
