Loretta VanWinkle Gramelspacher

March 31, 1938 — December 6, 2006

Loretta VanWinkle Gramelspacher, 68, of 1718 Tamarack Rd., passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in Tell City, In. to the late John & Pearl Leisner VanWinkle. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was retired as a histotechnologist at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital and Owensboro-Daviess Co. Hospital and also worked for Dr. David Orrahood. She and her husband formerly owned Fredericks & Lorettas Hair Styling & Barber Shop. She founded the Owensboro Area Lupus Foundation because she had the debilitating illness for over 24 years and wanted to help others who had the disease. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters, grandsons, and her dogs, Sweetie Boy, Buddy, and Kelly, watching movies, sewing, and music. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick A. Gramelspacher on January 23, 2003.

Surviving are four daughters, Phyllis Jeffers, Christine Gramelspacher, and Elizabeth Gramelspacher, all of Owensboro, and Theresa (Mark) Wilson of Newburgh, In., two grandsons, Jordan & Taylor Ling, a brother, Norman J. VanWinkle of Evansville, a cousin, Pearl (Gene) Fruehwald of Tell City and many nieces & nephews.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with burial following in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Friday with prayers at 5:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home.
