Lorena Mae Whitten Bennett

Lorena Mae Whitten Bennett, 83, passed away Monday, April 8, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born on October 10, 1929 in Centertown, KY to the late Archie and Etta Beatty Whitten.

Lorena graduated from Centertown High School in 1947 and she married the love of her life, Charles E. Bennett, on April 15, 1955. She was a long time member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church. She provided for her family by working as a production technician at General Electric for 44 years and at MPD for 14 more years before retiring in 2007. She enjoyed watching her son Greg race go carts with the Southern Indiana Racing Association and going to car shows to exhibit her 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 ( which she purchased new) with her family. Above all Lorena enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving is her husband of 57 years, Charles E. Bennett; her son, Charles Gregory Bennett (Susan) of Owensboro; her grandchildren, Lauren Jessica Bennett and Connor Gregory Bennett both of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be at 2:00PM Thursday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with entombment held at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Reverend Jeff Hendricks will be officiating services. Visitation will be held from 3 until 8:00PM on Wednesday and after noon on Thursday at the funeral home.
