Lonnie A. Sumner, Jr., 53, of 755 Sturgeon Ave., Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2004, at his home. He was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Lonnie & Dorothy Edwards Sumner, Sr. He was a self-employed property maintainer and had also worked at the Hunter-Douglas Co. He was a U. K. basketball fan,, and enjoyed Nascar racing, all sports, carpentry, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also coached baseball for several years in the Daviess Co. Playground Association. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Ervin on April 13, 2003.
Surviving is his wife of 32 years, Pamelia Sumner, two sons and their wives, Jeff & Bridget Sumner of Owensboro, and Brian James & Emily Sumner of Evansville, In., four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jr., Justin, and Jacob Sumner, all of Owensboro, and Addison Sumner of Evansville, four brothers, William, Clifton, & Claudie Sumner, all of Owensboro, and Jerry Sumner of Whitesville, and four sisters, Lydia Griffin, Brenda Shock, and Nettie Sumner, all of Owensboro, and Josephine Cockrell of Maceo.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 P.M. Friday, October 22, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday and after 10:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Dr., Owensboro, Ky. 42301.
