Lonnie W. Hunter, 74, of Owensboro, died Thursday, August 7, 2008, at his home. He was born July 31, 1934 to the late John and Gertrude Hunter in Charlotte, TN. He retired from AT&T after 38 years of service, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Christmas Wish, and spent time taking cancer patients to their appointments for treatments. He enjoyed woodworking, and rooting for the Tennessee Volunteers in football and basketball.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Hunter in 1988.
Survivors include his son, Greg Hunter and his wife, Mickey of Owensboro, his daughter, Pam Hunter of Owensboro; three grandchildren, Rachel Hunter, Tiffany Hunter, and Erin Guyette; one great-grandson, James Hunter; his brother, Nelson Hunter and his wife, Betty of Bowling Green.
Services will be 12:00 PM Monday, at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 12:00 until 6:00 PM Sunday, and after 9:00 AM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 319 West 10th Street, Owensboro, KY 42301.
