Lola Mae Pike

Lola Mae Pike, 73, of Curdsville died Monday, July 16, 2007 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Owensboro, a daughter of the late William Wells and Bertha Neel Wells, she was a devoted Christian and active in her membership at Curdsville Baptist Church, where she played the organ and taught Sunday school. Mrs. Pike retired after 48 years as the executive secretary for Modern Welding. Her life revolved around her family and the time she spent with them. She enjoyed caring for others and fishing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Pike, who died July 17, 1995, her granddaughter Brittany Pike, her sisters, Ophelia Wells Mattingly, Louise Wells Gray, Bobbie Jean Wells Owen, and her brother, Willie Wells.

Survivors include her sons, Michael Pike and his wife Amy of Owensboro and Mark Pike and his wife Jenny of Curdsville; her grandsons, Gavin Pike and Jaren Pike, both of Curdsville, and her sister, Alberta Wells Rice of Curdsville.

Services, officiated by the Rev. Thomas Pelphrey and the Rev. James Wedding, are at 12:00 noon Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 11:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Sorgho Baptist Church Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the memorial fund of Curdsville Baptist Church.
